Learn about our vision
What does sustainability mean to us?
Since its inception, Unión para la Infraestructura has built and developed rigorous processes for analyzing its investments, taking into account:
- The incorporation of environmental, social and corporate governance elements as key factors in the performance and evaluation of the projects in which it participates.
- The generation of a relevant footprint in the region’s sustainable growth, mitigating environmental impact, reducing inequality gaps and promoting the application of ethical principles in all businesses.
We firmly believe that projects that consider and prioritize the correct management of environmental, social and corporate governance issues guarantee a successful execution and a better return on investment.
Currently, project sustainability allows for a deeper, persistent positive impact on communities and ecosystems over time, thus avoiding situations that could worsen living conditions or deteriorate the conditions achieved through infrastructure construction.

Fundamental principles
In the financial sector there are several references to policies and guidelines on environmental, social and governance sustainability, such as those published by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Environmental and Social Management System
We have an Environmental and Social Management System that defines the processes from the initial project analysis to the total payment of the loans granted, providing tools to identify and manage social and environmental risks, under the principle of avoid, mitigate and compensate.
Thanks to this system, we have fulfilled Unión para la Infraestructura’s commitment to ensure that projects take the necessary measures to assess and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as international regulations.
This also allows us to understand the importance of climate change, biodiversity and human rights and, to the extent possible, to avoid negative effects on ecosystems, communities and the climate affected by the implementation of our projects.
